Bell Ringers Needed

We now have the opportunity to sign up online to ring the bell for the Salvation Army.  The LOAF churches volunteer each December at both WalMart and Cortland Sparkle.  Slots at Sparkle are going fast so if you care to help please do the following:

God’s Work. Our Hands. Day

Wear your Thrivent Live Generously shirt on Sunday, September 8!! We will pack school supplies and health kits that day after church for God’s Work, Our Hands Sunday and we will take a group photo. 

By next week we will have a list of school and health kits supplies we need to finish on Sunday for God’s Work Our Hands day.

Rise Against Hunger

Although the LOAF sponsored Rise Against Hunger event is not until Sept 21 it is not too early to ask for donations so we can see how many meals we will be able to afford. One bag of rice, soy, vegetables, and vitamins, when reconstituted, serves 6 and costs $2 (a little price increase from 2017).

PERSONAL  HYGIENE  ITEMS–  Needed  by  Salvation Army  for  those  who  come  into  the  facility  to shower.   Especially  useful  are  motel-sized shampoos,  lotions,  and  soaps.    Clean  used  bath towels,  combs,  and  toothbrushes  are  also  gratefully accepted. 

School bags will be needed again this year.

RISE AGAINST HUNGER date is set for Sat. Sept 21, 2019 at Lakeview High School cafeteria.  A dozen volunteers will be needed at 7:30 to help set up and 40 more volunteers will be needed from 9-noon or so. We also are asking for monetary donations as it costs $3000 to provide 10,000 meals.

CHAMPION MEMORIAL DAY PARADE Monday,  May  27  at    9:00  a.m.  The  path  of  travel  is:  St. William  Church,  north  to  township cemetery  across from  Central  Elementary School  for  a  memorial  service  hosted  by Champion Rotary  Club.  St. John  Lutheran  Church  will  have  a  float.
