Weekly Newsletter 1-19-2020

JANUARY 19, 2020

Last Sunday we heard Matthew’s version of the baptism of Jesus, and this coming Sunday we hear the story from John’s gospel. Listen for all the titles of Jesus that the evangelist John includes in his telling of the story. Like Andrew and Simon Peter, we too are called to the side of this Lamb of God

Condolences

George Smearsoll, former member of Prince of Peace, passed away January 10 due to complications from Parkinson’s Disease. His wife, Mary Lou, was our choir director for many years and their son, Alan, is pastor of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Salem, where George and Mary Lou are members. He will be buried in the family plot in Orwell. Condolences can be sent to Mary Lou and the family at 2205 Goshen Rd Lot 118, Salem, OH 44460

STOP THE BLEED

Stop the Bleed” is a program originated in Homeland Security. This one hour informal session teaches people how to immediately manage the bleeding of a person who has been shot in an active shooter situation. With EMS on the way, you will learn simple life saving steps to take. The staff at both Lakeview schools have been taught as schools are the most frequent targets. The next most common targets are churches. Our Fire Departments are presenting this program. The seven LOAF churches are being taught first, hopefully leading other area churches to participate. The tentative date for this Is Saturday, February 8th at Bazetta Christian Church. Time to be determined. All members are encouraged to attend.

THANK YOU

I would like to thank the choir and congregation for your thoughtful and generous Christmas gifts. You are an amazing group of people and I am blessed with the opportunity to use my musical talent in your services each week.
