Sixth Sunday after Epiphany

Much of the New Testament is a commentary on the Old Testament, in the light of Christ. The gospel for this coming Sunday is an example of this, as Matthew quotes Jesus discussing several of the Ten Commandments. Come to worship, to hear these words, to pray for strength to live God’s ways, and to share in the meal of forgiveness.

Communion Assistance at SJ

Males or females are wanted to prepare communion and clean up communion throughout 2020. There is a sign up sheet in the fellowship hall awaiting signatures. This takes about 15 minutes before worship and about the same amount of time after worship on Sunday mornings. If you can walk and carry something at the same time, you are qualified. Prayerfully consider volunteering to serve God and your church in this way. Twelve months, looking for twelve volunteers. Please ask Sara Glee or Jill Hansel if you have any questions.

Outreach Opportunities at POP

LINENS FOR QUILTS-We can always use flat sheets, double or queen, clean and in good shape, for quilt backs.

LWR SCHOOL BAGS-are available NOW to make for next fall. We already have quite a few finished. If you care to help just take the supplies off of the table in the fellowship hall.

OLDER CLOTHING- We always welcome your donations of clothing, fitted sheets, larger blankets, shoes, etc to the Emmanuel Clothes Closet. Just put your items in the cupboard under the counter in the fellowship hall.

MONEY FOR THE OUTREACH FUND-Since Outreach is not budgeted any money we can always use donations for projects that might come up. Just mark your donation OUTREACH on your envelope.

LINENS FOR CHRISTY HOUSE-There is a continuous need for twin size sheets and blankets (used is fine), pillow cases, and towels for the Christy House in Warren. Christy House is the only area homeless shelter that permits families to stay together and when the families are able to get back on their feet the linens they have used are given to them. The Lutheran Youth Group, which includes students from Prince of Peace, is helping with this project.

Lakeview Food pantry– non-perishable and personal care items-socks and underwear

Salvation Army– Motel size soaps and shampoos, body lotion, combs, toothbrushes. People who have nowhere to bathe use the SA showers
