“Kettle Walk”

During the last several months we have debated as to the future of Crop Walk as it appears to be fading both nationally and locally. Pastor Fred Blauser suggested we hold a “Kettle Walk” instead this year. It will involve a walk from Cortland Christian Church to the lake on Sunday, October 18th. More information to come but think about helping to make this event a big success for the sake of all.

Once again L.O.A.F. churches are participating in Adopt-A-Foot. Your donation will support Neal’s Shoes in supplying name-brand shoes to area school children. Last year 112+ pairs of shoes were distributed to area students in need. This year, no doubt, the need is greater. $30.00 will adopt a pair of shoes. All or part of that amount is appreciated! And, of course, the skies the limit on how many shoes you can adopt! Please help L.O.A.F. exceed our goal of 120 pairs of shoes for our school children.

Camp Frederick’s Fall Festival

Take a drive to see this gorgeous property that God created and enjoy a fun afternoon of fun free activities. There will be a climbing wall, tractor pulls, petting zoo, children’s crafts, s’mores and hiking. Fair food concessions will be available. For more information, contact them at 330-227-3633

St. John

St. John Outreach
St. John will collect non-perishable food items during October and November for Basement Outreach Ministries. Donations of peanut butter, cereal, pastas, spaghetti sauce, canned foods, etc would be greatly appreciated.

St. John Noisy Offering
Noisy Offering is collected on the last Sunday of the month. The Noisy Change for October and November will go to Basement Outreach Ministries in Warren.

Upcoming Outreach Opportunities:

Operation Christmas Child– you are invited to pack a shoebox with items for children. The shoeboxes will need to be brought to SJ by November 15th.

Angel tree– WE will have a few children to buy Christmas gifts for. More details to come.

Thursday Phone Calls

It is likely that Joan McCurdy will not be resuming her famous Thursday phone calls to the lay assistants scheduled for the following Sunday. She was diligent and reliable with this task and she loved it! It kept her in ouch with us all! But things change. Most of us are aware and compliant in this area. No phone call is necessarily required. But there are those who seem to rely on Joan for the notification. Overall having the phone calls is better than not having the phone calls. So if there is someone who would fill this role, let Carole Wiley know. In the meantime and possibly ongoing, there will be no reminders given.
